2001 Volunteer of the Year Awards

Thursday, April 26, more than 530 people celebrated National Volunteer Week and the International Year of the Volunteer by attending the annual Volunteer of the Year luncheon sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Williams. Terry Hood, KOTV Channel 6, welcomed everyone, recognized the 142 nominees, and introduced the winners and finalists in each category.  An etched glass award and a contribution of $1000 for their agency was presented to each winner by Bill McCall, PwC and Peyton Nielsen, Williams.  Awards and an agency contribution of $250 was made to each finalist.

Featured speaker for the luncheon was Tulsa native, c.  Bob's inspirational remarks focused on the need for continuing citizen involvement as a unifying force toward building strong communities.  A special award and warm thanks was given to Doug White for JCPenney's decade of event sponsorship and his personal dedication to the spirit of volunteerism.

Thanks to all who helped make this celebration of service so special.
